The situation
Westfill is a full-service underground mining contractor, covering everything from drill and blast to projects and product support. The business holds sensitive data for its own people and for the mining clients it works for, and needed that protected properly as it grew.
What we did
We were first engaged for cyber security and data protection. As trust built, the relationship grew into full managed IT and security, and into projects that changed how the business runs day to day:
- Implemented Essential Eight Level 1 security controls, and transformed from unmanaged technology to a fully managed IT & Cyber environment.
- Redesigned Westfill’s SharePoint environment, replacing an organically grown structure with one built around how the business actually works
- Implemented Power BI as Westfill’s reporting platform
- Integrated Power BI with Quartex (formerly INX), Westfill’s workforce and safety management platform, bringing operational data into the business’s reporting
- Deployed Microsoft Copilot, giving staff access to AI tools within their existing secured Microsoft environment.
- Supported Westfill’s application development team with cloud and application security consulting
The result
A significant uplift in data security and privacy for Westfill’s personnel and client data, and a technology platform that supported the business’ transformation rather than holding it back. Issues are responded to quickly by a team the business knows by name.
